Pouch
This pouch is based on a find from the Cave of Letters in Israel. It contained documents perhaps placed there during the Bar Kochba rebellion. The original pouch had neither belt loops nor a clear method of closure, was longer, and the ends had been rippedout to fit the documents it contained. I shortened the length to about 6 inches, but kept the height and depth the same. Though not of Roman origin, and not found anywhere near Europe, never mind Northern Britain, I feel it is reasonable to suppose that the design may also have been use somewhat universal. I also find that a flap pouch is much more user friendly while wearing armour.
